Welcome to my website.

A collection of recorded memories of the hosiery industry at the end of the twentieth century in a typical region of England.
The research undertaken has been ongoing since 1997 when I worked on a European funded project about the local textile industry.
An important and most interesting part of my work and continued interest has been the oral histories.
They are quite unique – all those people who volunteered to record their memories – a big thank you to you all.
The recordings have allowed an insight into people’s lives in the local area – work, social life and personal reflections and I feel too important not to share with others.   More on the archive.   More about me.  More various local history recordings.
